24 GHz mmWave Radar Technology

How a 24 GHz radar turns an invisible threat into a warning

Four physics steps happen hundreds of times a second, with no camera and no reliance on light.

01

Transmit (FMCW)

A 24 GHz radio sweeps a frequency-modulated continuous-wave signal toward the road behind. Its wavelength (about 12.5 mm) scatters cleanly off metal vehicle bodies.

02

Reflect

Vehicle surfaces return an echo. The round-trip travel time and the frequency shift of that echo carry all the information SafeRidar needs.

03

Resolve

Time-of-flight sets distance. The Doppler shift sets relative speed. Array phase sets the approach angle — three physical measurements, direct and deterministic.

04

Respond

The processor outputs distance, speed and angle in real time and drives escalating light, sound and screen alerts.

Radar vs Camera vs Ultrasonic: Which Wins?

We benchmarked every sensing option. Radar wins on the metrics that matter for rear safety.

A Taillight Visible to 1.6 km in Daylight

220° beam and 1.6 km daylight visibility. Five light modes scale with what the radar senses — the closer the car, the more assertive the light. G-Sensor brake detection triggers an instant brake warning.
